Tests are offered at
National Test Centers (usually colleges) and the Education
Service Office. Tests range from certification exams and college-credit-by-examiation
programs to language aptitude and military classification
tests. Military personnel, spouses and eligible civilian employees
are eligible to test. Testing programs are:
- Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
- Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAP).
- Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT).
- Officer Testing Alternate Flight Aptitude Selection Test (AFAST).
All APT test requests should be made through the RNCO/Unit Administrator. The Unit representative will schedule soldiers for testing with the education office. Office hours are 8:00-4:30,
Monday-Friday (Can be flexible with time and weekends if prearranged)

Tests are administered by appointment. Fill out the Test
Request Worksheet and submit back to education@wa.ngb.army.mil
at minimum two weeks before requested exam date. The Test
Request Worksheet has all the information you need including
list of exams available, testing location and approximate
length of each exam.
Retest waiting periods (most common exams):
- ACT: 60 days between exams (fees may apply).
- GED: 1st retest - Immediately on alt form, 2nd - 6 months, alt form from last part taken.
- ASVAB: 6 months (there are exceptions to policy), must retake whole battery. Can only be retested 4 times.
*Before a soldier is eligible to take the GED
Exam, they must first take and pass a Practice GED with a
score of 450 or better in each subject.
*Special Order Exams: PRAXIS and ASE Certification Exams,
etc. The Education Services Section will provide guidance
on requesting these exams prior to their test dates.

The National Guard will reimburse soldiers taking any of the national accredited
certification examinations offered through DANTES. The cost of the examination is reimbursable at 100%
(not including registration fees) on a one-time basis. Click here for a list of available Certifications and licensures.
